August 17, 2005 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
New York Liberty News Release
Wow - you saw a thrilling game here at The Garden last night! The Liberty held on to defeat rival Washington, 72-66, to get one step closer to the playoffs. It was a nailbiter, but Becky Hammon, Vickie Johnson and Shameka Christon teamed up to lead the Liberty to its fourth straight win! New York has now won four games in a row overall and four consecutive at The Garden.
The excitement continues on August 25! The Liberty will look to make it five in a row at home when the Charlotte Sting come to town next Thursday at 7:30 p.m. It's the last home game of the regular season, so come cheer the Liberty into the playoffs!
August 25 is Fan Appreciation Night at The Garden! You've been the team's sixth man all season and we want to thank you for all your support. The first 5,000 fans through the doors will receive a free Liberty t-shirt, courtesy of Verizon Wireless.
Don't forget: playoff tickets are now on sale! Purchase your tickets for both August 25 and the playoffs at the MSG Box Office, by phone at 877-WNBA-TIX or online at nyliberty.com.
