Detroit Shock News Release
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. --- Gasoline prices may be going up, but the price of a Detroit Shock ticket is going down. Coincidentally, starting today, the price per gallon and the price per ticket will be the same.
As a way to ease the pain at the pump that metro Detroiters are feeling, Detroit Shock management announced a Drive for the 2005 Playoffs ticket offer which makes available 500 tickets per game for the last two regular season home games and the first game of the playoffs, at a price that is equal to the average price per gallon of gasoline (according to AAA Michigan, www.fuelgaugereport.com/MIavg.asp) on the day of purchase.
"It certainly is outrageous to be paying $2.69, $2.79 or $2.89 per gallon for gas," said Kristin Bernert, Shock vice president of operations. "But that seems like a pretty good price to get a ticket for the Shock...especially for our game when we host the Washington Mystics, who we are battling with for the final playoff spot (Aug. 21) and when we host Fan Appreciation Night (Aug. 25)."
Fans can purchase a limited number of tickets online at www.detroitshock.com, by calling the Palace at 248-377-0100 or in person at the Palace box office and the price of these tickets will be the same as the day's average price for a gallon of gasoline. For example, if the reported average price for gas in the morning is $2.79 per gallon, the price of these tickets will be $2.79 per ticket.
Tickets for the 2005 WNBA Playoffs will be available beginning Sunday, August 21 at 3:30 p.m. The same offer will be available for the first round of the playoffs - the price per ticket will be equal to the day's price per gallon of gas.
The Shock are currently tied for fourth place in the Eastern Conference (14-15) and hold the fourth playoff spot with a better conference record than the Washington Mystics. The Shock are currently 4-1 in their last five games.
Lennox is the presenting sponsor of the Detroit Shock 2005 regular season. For more information on the Drive for the 2005 Playoffs ticket promotion, please contact The Palace at (248) 377-0100 or visit www.detroitshock.com.
