Liberty And Silver Stars Face Off In First Part Of Two Game Series

Tonight's meeting is the first of a two-game series between the Liberty and Silver Stars ... The series will conclude in the Big Apple on July 27 at 7:30 p.m. (ESPN2) ... New York is 9-4 all-time in its first match-up of the season versus San Antonio (Utah).

LAST TIME AROUND: The Liberty evened the season series (1-1) on June 19, 2009 with a win at The Garden ... It was the first New York win in the all-time season series versus San Antonio since June 10, 2006.

BUMPY ROAD: Tonight, the Liberty is seeking its first road win of the season, after dropping its first away game on May 21 in Washington ... New York is 4-9 all-time in the second road game of the season ... The last time the Liberty won that second game of the summer was May 30, 2004 in Minnesota.

C'MON GET CAPPIE: Cappie Pondexter is currently ranked amongst the WNBA's top 10 statistical leaders in three categories, scoring average (19.0), assists per game (7.0) and minutes per game (35.7) ... On the season, Pondexter has led the Liberty in scoring in three times and assists two times.

ALL-STAR VOTING OPEN: Janel McCarville, Cappie Pondexter, Nicole Powell, Taj McWilliams-Franklin & Essence Carson are represented on the ballot for the "WNBA vs. USA Basketball: The Stars at the Sun" on July 10 ... Fans can vote via WNBA.com, in-arenas, the NBA Store and NBA Nation until June 21 ... The 10 players who receive the most votes will be guaranteed a position on the team rosters.

POWER OF POWELL: Nicole Powell has made her mark in New York thus far, having posted in double digits in all three games she's appeared in ... Powell is currently one of the WNBA's top three-point threats with a .727 long range shooting percentage.

THE HOMECOMING: Tonight's game marks a homecoming for Taj McWilliams-Franklin and Tiffany Jackson ... The Liberty post players both hail from the Lone Star State, with McWilliams-Franklin born in El Paso and Jackson born in Longview.
