The Chicago Cubs have announced the following roster moves affecting the Myrtle Beach Pelicans:

-LHP Wyatt Short has been assigned to Double-A Tennessee from Myrtle Beach.

-LHP Manuel Rondon has been assigned to Myrtle Beach from Low-A South Bend. He will wear No. 24.

Short pitched in 22 games for Myrtle Beach, going 1-1 with a 2.27 ERA. Over 31.2 innings, the Southaven, Miss., native yielded just 19 hits while striking out 38 against 12 walks. With Low-A South Bend in 2017, Short went 4-3 with a 3.19 ERA in 40 games, recording 16 saves while earning Midwest League post-season All-Star honors. Over 62.0 innings, Short struck out 62 against 20 walks. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 13th round of the 2016 draft out of the University of Mississippi.

A native of San Diego in Venezuela, Rondon pitched in nine games with Low-A South Bend in 2018, going 1-0 with a 3.78 ERA, whiffing 22 against six walks in 16.2 frames. Rondon also pitched with South Bend last season, going 14-6 with a 4.63 ERA in 27 games, 26 of them starts. He was named the Northwest League Pitcher of the Year with Short Season Class A Eugene in 2016, when he pitched to a 6-1 record and 1.10 ERA in 12 starts covering 57.1 frames. Rondon was acquired by the Cubs on July 3, 2015 from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for C Rafael Lopez.

The Pelicans' roster sits at 25 active players, with four players on the disabled list.
