
LHP Bruce Zimmermann Promoted to Mississippi from Low-A Rome

PENSACOLA, FL - The Atlanta Braves have made the following roster move affecting the M-Braves roster. LHP Bruce Zimmermann has been transferred to Mississippi from Low-A Rome.
Zimmermann, 23, has appeared in 14 games, all starts for Low-A Rome this season going 7-3 with a 2.76 ERA (26 ER/84.2 IP), 18 walks, 99 strikeouts and 1.09 WHIP. The Woodstock, MD native ranks first in the South Atlantic League in strikeouts and is sixth in all of Minor League Baseball. Among SAL pitchers, Zimmermann leads the league in innings pitched and is tied for first in wins (7). Zimmermann's outing on Sunday was his fourth straight start in which he has thrown seven innings.
Zimmermann was selected by the Braves in the fifth round (140th overall) of the 2017 draft out of the University of Mt. Olive (NC). The left-hander made 11 starts with Rookie-level Danville last year and went 0-1 with a 3.09 ERA (8 ER/23.1 IP) and 28 strikeouts. Prior to being drafted, he went 9-2 with a 3.18 ERA and 129 strikeouts as the Friday starter at Mt. Olive. The 129 strikeouts tied the university's single-season record, originally set by former Jackson General and Major League pitcher Carter Capps.
Zimmermann is scheduled to make his first M-Braves start on Friday night at Pensacola.
The Mississippi Braves roster currently stands at 23 active players and four on the DL.
