
Mitch Nay Joins Wahoos

Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release
Infielder Mitch Nay has joined the Blue Wahoos from Advanced-A Daytona. At the time of his promotion, Nay was second in the Florida State League with 18 doubles and fourth in the FSL with 44 RBI. He played in 69 games with the Tortugas and hit .271 with five home runs to accompany his team-best 44 RBI. He was acquired by the Reds from the Toronto Blue Jays this past offseason in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft.
Prior to injuries limiting him to just 178 games from 2015-17, he was the Blue Jays No. 7 prospect according to MLB.com. He was a first round pick of Toronto in 2012 out of Hamilton High School in Chandler, Ariz.
In a corresponding move, INF Alberti Chavez was transferred to Advanced-A Daytona. Chavez had played in 28 games and hit .217.
