Lewis Brinson Hits Fifth Home Run of May

(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - Since the calendar flipped to May, Sugar Land Space Cowboys outfielder Lewis Brinson has made a habit of hitting home runs.

He hit his sixth longball of the season Wednesday night as the Space Cowboys fell 11-3 to the Round Rock Express at Constellation Field.

Five of Brinson's six home runs this season have come this month.

Brinson's homer was a two-run shot in the eighth inning that traveled 392 feet to left field. Through his last nine games, Brinson has hit .306 (11x36) with a double, triple, three home runs and four RBI.

JJ Matijevic, who came around to score on Brinson's home run, finished the night 1-for-4, extending his hitting streak to 13 games - tied for the longest active streak in the Pacific Coast League.

David Hensley went 2-for-4 with a double, pushing his average to .306 on the season. He ranks fourth in the PCL with a .428 on-base percentage.

Round Rock scored four runs in the first, three in the fourth and three in the ninth on its way to the win. Yohel Pozo and Leody Taveras each drove in three runs for the Express.

Enoli Paredes struck out one batter through a scoreless frame in relief and lowered his ERA to 0.60 on the year.

The Space Cowboys finish out their three-game set vs. Round Rock at 6:05 p.m. on Thursday. It will be Barks and Brews Night at Constellation Field, with fans permitted to bring their dogs to the ballpark, along with $2 beers and sodas available at concession stands.

JP France is set to take the mound for the Space Cowboys and is scheduled to be opposed by right-hander Cole Winn.
