Leroy Hunt Assigned To Kannapolis

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (AUGUST 18, 2010) - Today the Dash received RHP Ryan Kussmaul (pronounced "KOOZ-mall) from low-A Kannapolis. In a corresponding roster move, RHP Leroy Hunt was assigned to the Intimidators.

Kussmaul posted a 1.20 ERA in nine games with no record for Kannapolis, striking out 17 and walking three in 15 innings. He was signed out of the independent Frontier League's Southern Illinois Miners, where he has pitched the last two seasons. In nine games (eight starts) this season with the Miners, Kussmaul was 3-1 with a 2.68 ERA.

The Fennimore, Wisconsin native also suited up for the Miners following his final season of baseball at Mount Olive (NC) College where he earned All-Conference Carolinas second team. Prior to graduating from Mount Olive, Kussmaul attended Evansville (IN) University.

Hunt opened the season with the Dash, going 0-4 with an 8.66 ERA in 26 games (one start). He had two stints on the disabled list earlier this season with shoulder soreness.

The Dash's roster remains at the Carolina League limit of 25 players.

Winston-Salem resumes its suspended game with Salem tonight at 6 p.m. A seven-inning contest will follow once the first game concludes.
