Lemurs Shutout Tornedoes in First Meeting

Laredo, TX - Stephen Pearson's two run homerun in the fourth lifts the Laredo Lemurs (18-21) to a 2-0 victory over the Worcester Tornadoes (14-26) on Friday night at Uni-Trade Stadium in Laredo, Texas.

The Lemurs got excellent pitching on Friday night as Garrett Sherrill (3-0) worked five complete, giving up four hits, and striking out five, in his first start of the season for the Lemurs. Sherrill had been working as a relief pitcher for the Lemurs making 15 appearances out of the pen this year.

The bullpen combined to pitch four complete shutout innings, giving up two hits, striking out five. The Lemurs pitching staff combined to strikeout 10 Tornado batters tonight.

With the win tonight the Lemurs are 6-1 when opening up a series at home.

Tomorrow night the Lemurs will send Manny Ayala to the mound to take on Kevin Cooper from the Tornadoes.
