
Lemanczyk and pals lead Cardinals to 4-1 win over Brevard County

Jupiter, FLâ Jordan Pals threw six strong innings and was complimented by a big offensive day by Matt Lemanczyk as Palm Beach outlasted two rain delays to defeat Brevard County 4-1 at Roger Dean Stadium on a rainy Wednesday night.
The Cardinals (19-16, 56-48) won their fourth straight and gained a game on Vero Beach as the Dodgers were shutout by Dunedin 13-0. The game was delayed 32 minutes at the start and 35 more minutes in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Lemanczyk was 2-for-3 with his first home run of the season, two RBIs, two runs scored and his 28th stolen base of the season. The two-run home run to left field came off a Clint Everts fastball in the third inning.
Pals (3-0) tossed six innings allowing one run while scattering seven hits and striking out seven in 94 pitches. His ERA dropped to 0.90 in 30 innings this season. Roberto Batista and Anthony Rawson each threw a scoreless inning before Justin Garza came on to nail down his sixth save in the ninth. Everts (0-1) was saddled with the loss in his first Florida State League start in five innings of work.
Brevard County (13-21, 44-57) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning as Chad Chop sliced a double down the left field line. Chop advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on Dominick Ambrosini's RBI single to left field.
Palm Beach came right back in explosive fashion with Lemanczyk's home run in the bottom of the third inning. The Cardinals added runs in the sixth and seventh inning. Andy Schutzenhofer's sacrifice fly scored Shaun Boyd who reached on a lead-off double. Boyd singled home Lemanczyk in the seventh with two outs.
Boyd finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Cardinals. Chop was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored for the Manatees.
Palm Beach will go for the sweep Thursday night at Roger Dean Stadium. Cardinals right-hander Josh Teekel (6-4, 3.85 ERA) will take on Brevard County right-hander Alex Morales (2-4, 3.54 ERA). Game time is 7:05 p.m.
