FRISCO, TX, (Mar. 11, 2015) - The Texas Legends shot 58% to take down the Reno Bighorns 142-125 in front of their home crowd.
Mike James got off to a hot start for the Legends with 17 points off 6-of-7 in the first quarter. The Legends took a 7-0 lead before the Bighorns found their shot, but Reno erased the lead and took their first lead of the night with 45 seconds on the clock. William Buford took the final shot of the quarter to put the Legends back on top 41-40 heading into the second. Reno went cold from outside in the second, shooting 7% to the Legends' 75%. Mavericks assignee Dwight Powell and Jarrid Famous combined for 23 pushing the Legends up by 16 at the half.
The Bighorns fought to diminish the gap but the Legends maintained pace. By the fourth quarter, Reno found themselves at a 23-point deficit. The Bighorns powered out a 7-0 run in the final minutes, but the Legends were too far out of reach, sealing the victory and taking a 2-1 lead on the season series.
Powell posted 33 points, 6 rebounds to lead the Legends followed by Mike James with 22 points, 8 assists. Eric Griffin added the team's only double-double of 20 points, 10 rebounds.
David Stockton and Ra'Shad James added 32 points each with Stockton also adding a game-high 15 assists. David Wear added the team's only other double-double of 18 points, 12 rebounds.
Texas will return to the court tomorrow night hosting the Delaware 87ers at 7pm. The game will be broadcast live on television-Texas 47-and radio-KVCE1160am.
