Lexington, KY (April 18, 2009) - Despite out-hitting the Lexington Legends 8-6 at Applebee's Park on Saturday night, the West Virginia Power were shutout for the second game in a row, falling 4-0 in the third game of the series.

Lexington plated their first run in the bottom of the second inning. Russell Dixon was hit by a pitch to start the inning and he moved to third on a single from Brandon Barnes. The next batter, Nathan Metroka grounded into a 6-4-3 double play, allowing Dixon to score.

Kody Hinze started the third inning with a solo homerun, his second of the year. Albert Cartwright followed the homer with a double and he scored on Jay Austin's base hit. In the eighth inning, Austin singled again before stealing second base, and he made his way to third on a wild pitch. With the infield drawn in, Dixon hit a groundball to second baseman Greg Picart, but Picart's throw to the plate failed to beat Austin, allowing the Legends to plate their final run.

Robert Bono (2-0) tossed six scoreless innings of five hit ball and fanned two batters to earn the victory while Jack Tilghman (1) tossed three scoreless innings of relief and struck out four to earn the save. Maurice Bankston (0-1) was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs on four hits over four and two-thirds.

West Virginia fell to 2-8 after the loss and the Legends improved to 6-4 on the year with the win. Robbie Grossman, Chase D'Arnaud and Edward Garcia paced the Power with two hits a piece. West Virginia had just four base runners in scoring position all night long and reached third base just once. They've out-hit the Legends in every game of the series.

The Power will continue the five game series against the Lexington Legends at Applebee's Park on Sunday afternoon. The Legends will start right hander Kyle Greenwalt (0-1, 1.80) and the Power will counter with right hander Duke Welker (0-1, 6.00). The first pitch in game one is scheduled for 2:05 PM.
