Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Intimidators looked like their usual selves once again on Saturday afternoon at Bowling Green Ballpark, capturing a 2-1 win over the Hot Rods.
Daniel Hudson pitched six scoreless innings to take his first win of the season. The right-hander gave up just three hits in his time on the mound, striking out two without walking a batter. It was Hudson's first start since he was forced to leave a game early after being struck in the leg with a groundball.
Jorge Castillo gave the Intimidators (7-3) all the offense they would need with his first home run of the season. Castillo took Chris Andujar (2-1) deep with two outs in the sixth to plate two and give Kannapolis a lead they would not relinquish.
Kannapolis managed only six hits in the ballgame, but came out on top thanks to strong outings from three different relievers. Stephen Sauer gave up an unearned run in the seventh, before Charlis Burdie got the side in the eighth and Dan Remenowsky pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his second save of the season.
It was the perfect way for Kannapolis to rebound after their pitching staff's worst night of the season, a 8-4 loss to Bowling Green (5-5) on Friday. In the seven wins for Kannapolis this season, the pitching staff has given up a total of four runs.
