Rome, GA -The Charleston Riverdogs defeated the Rome Braves 6-4 in front of 4,090 fans at State Mutual Stadium Saturday night. Rome drops to 4-5 on the season.

The Riverdogs scored the first run of the night in the third inning on a David Adams RBI double. In the bottom of the inning the Braves tied the game 1-1 on a two out RBI single by Ryan Barba. The game remained tied until the sixth when Charleston added four runs to take the lead. With runners at first and second, Rome pitcher Yeliar Castro fielded a ground ball hit by Carmen Angelini and made an errant throw to third trying to force the base runner and two runners crossed the plate. Later in the inning Ray Kruml had an RBI single and another run scored on a wild pitch giving Charleston the 5-1 lead.

Rome added a run in the sixth thanks to a wild pitch to score Barba from third making it a 5-2 game. Charleston added an insurance run in the seventh on a home run by Taylor Grote. Rome scored single runs in the seventh and eighth but it wasn't enough as Charleston's bullpen held the lead for the 6-4 final.

David Phelps gets the win (2-0) for the Riverdogs while Yeliar Castro was the losing pitcher for Rome (0-2).
