It's not unusual for someone who works in minor league baseball to wear more than one hat, but few wear them as well as Shannon Kidd of the Lexington Legends, who has been named South Atlantic League Female Executive of the Year for 2015. The announcement was made Tuesday by league president Eric Krupa.

The Legends are celebrating their 15th season this year, and Kidd has been an important part of the operation since the first year. She joined the Legends as director of operations in March 2001, about a month before the team played its first game.

She has continued to build on her responsibilities through the years, and is currently serving as director of human resources, director of stadium operations and manager of the Legends Locker merchandise store.

On any home game day, she oversees the assignments of as many as 170 full and part-time employees, many of whom interact with fans, assisting in parking, seating, guest services and other duties.

"I tell the employees enthusiasm is contagious - and so is a negative attitude," Kidd said. "So I say 'be enthusiastic.'"

"Shannon is the glue that makes our game operations stick together," said Legends President/CEO Andy Shea. "From parking to corporate sales to group sales to merchandise sales to every game day employee, she interfaces with everyone in every department. She is equally valuable as human resources director, interviewing nearly every prospective full-time employee, part-time employee and intern, and keeping up with our benefits program, in addition to keeping the office an efficient, consistently productive and fun place to work."
