
Legends' Bailey Named South Atlantic League Player of the Week

Second baseman Austin Bailey of the Lexington Legends has been named South Atlantic League Player of the Week for August 31-September 7, league president Eric Krupa announced Tuesday.
For the week, Bailey, a switch hitter, had 12 hits in 28 at bats (.429) with four doubles, two triples, one home run and eight runs batted in.
Bailey, 23, a native of Temecula, California, was selected in the 21st round of the June 2015 draft by the Kansas City Royals after finishing his college career at the University of San Diego. After playing 35 games for Burlington of the Appalachian League, he made his debut with the Legends on August 7. He started 23 games at second base, five in left field and appeared in two other games as a designated hitter and pinch runner.
He hit .318 in 30 games for Lexington, with three home runs and 17 runs batted in.
"Austin did a great job in his brief time with the Legends," said Legends President/CEO Andy Shea. "This award is a perfect finish to his season."
