LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the third consecutive year, the Lexington Legends will start the season at Applebee's Park. The Legends will kickoff the 2005 season with a four game series with Delmarva followed by a three game set against Charleston, WV.

The Legends will see the Alley Cats quite a bit in 2005. The two teams will square off 32 times, setting a Legends record for the most head-to-head meetings with a team in one season.

"It is unusual for the Legends to play one team so many times in one season", said Legends President/CEO Alan Stein. "But they are our closest team in the league in terms of travel and the Legends and the Alley Cats have started to build a rivalry so it really does makes sense", Stein added.

The disparity in the number of games played against individual teams was caused by an attempt to reduce the amount travel for all teams in the league. For the first time in franchise history, Lexington will not play every team in the South Atlantic League. The Legends will play just 20 games against Southern Division opponents. Lexington and Kannapolis will play a home and home series. The Legends will visit Asheville twice for four game series' while the Tourists will come to Lexington for a four game set.

Kannapolis in the Southern Division? That's right, for the third consecutive year; there's been a shift in divisional alignment. Kannapolis shifts to the Southern Division with Greensboro returning to the Northern Division after a one-year absence.

The Legends will host defending champion, Hickory, to Applebee's Park for a four game series beginning Tuesday, May 17th. Lexington will return the favor with a four game series at Hickory beginning August 19th.

Lexington is 0-4 all-time on opening day and is 1-3 in home openers. The Lone win coming against Hagerstown on April 9th, 2001.

The Legends start times, including opening night, are 7:05 Monday thru Saturday. The games will start at 2:05 on Sundays in April and May and 6:05 on Sundays for the remainder of the season.
