Grasshoppers announce 2005 schedule

(GREENSBORO, NC) The Greensboro Grasshoppers have announced their game schedule for the 2005 season. It will begin on April 7 and extend through September 5. The 140-game season begins on the road versus the 2004 South Atlantic League Champion Hickory Crawdads for a short two-game series on April 7, 2005.

The Grasshoppers return to Greensboro on Saturday, April 9 for their official home opener. The home opener is the first of 11 Saturday home games. The Grasshoppers also play 11 Thursday and 11 Friday home games.

Grasshoppers' home games will begin at 7:00PM on Mondays through Saturdays and 5:00PM on Sundays. There will be a few weekday afternoon games with times still to be determined.

Although the Grasshoppers will not start the official South Atlantic League season at home, Greensboro will be hosting an exhibition game on Sunday, April 3, 2005 versus the Florida Marlins. The game will begin at 2:00 PM and will be the first game played in the new downtown ballpark.

The Grasshoppers average one day off a month and will travel as far as Lakewood, NJ. The Grasshoppers play six eight-game homestands as most teams will be playing four- game series' throughout the year.

Ticket prices are $9, $8 and $7 depending on seat locations. Lawn seating will be available for $6. All children 12 and under will receive $2 off the original ticket price. Exhibition game tickets are currently being included in season ticket packages bought before December 31, 2004.
