Texas Legends News Release
MEXICO CITY, MEXICO - The Texas Legends (3-2) controlled the rematch in Mexico City Wednesday night to split the series with the Capitanes (3-2) on a 127-114 victory. Texas led by as many as 22 in a dominant performance that was highlighted by 59 combined points from the two-ways.
Tyler Dorsey led all scorers with 30 points, 8 rebounds while McKinley Wright IV tagged on 29 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists.
Texas took advantage of a slow start from Mexico City to go up 21-8 midway through the first. The visitors would maintain the lead through the first buzzer, but a 9-2 run late in the quarter brought the Capitanes within two. Mexico City opened the second quarter with back-to-back baskets and built up their largest lead of the night (+5) within minutes, but it didn't take long for the Legends to find their stride and regain their double-digit edge. Wright grabbed 14 points to help Texas to a 17-4 run that would put them up 64-47 at the break. Texas maintained a double-digit difference through the second half and built up their largest advantage (+22) in the fourth that would hold off the rally efforts of the home team.
All five Legends starters finished in double-digits and Mouhamadou Gueye came off the bench for 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Yudai Baba had a season-high night and finished with a perfect 7-of-7 for 18 points, 4 rebounds, and a team season-high 7 steals. Tyler Hall posted 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, and James Banks III notched every category with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 2 blocks.
Bruno Caboclo led the Capitanes with 25 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists, and Jahlil Okafor added 18 points and a team-high 8 rebounds.
Texas returns home Friday night hosting the Birmingham Squadron at 7:30pm. For tickets or game information call 214-469-0822 or visit www.TexLegends.com.
