Legends Face Rio Grande Valley in Round 1 of Playoffs this Friday
March 26, 2018 - NBA G League (G League)
Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends will match up against their in-state rivals, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, in the first round of the 2018 NBA G League Playoffs this Friday, March 30th, at 7pm CT.
The team wrapped up the 2017-18 regular season with the most wins in franchise history, the second year for Head Coach Bob MacKinnon to break that record in as many seasons with the Legends.
"We are incredibly proud of this team and all that they've accomplished thus far," said Legends President/General Manager Malcolm Farmer. "We're looking forward to what they can accomplish in the Playoffs and think that we have as good a chance as anyone."
The two teams met four times during the regular season with RGV taking the edge on the series 3-1. The last showdown was Friday, March 23rd which featured two Houston Rockets assignees, one Rockets two-way player, and one Denver Nuggets two-way player on the Vipers' roster. Texas held the Vipers to 115 points (season average is 120.1), but were unable to propel themselves into the driver's seat. The loss put RGV into the fourth seed and Texas' victory the following night sealed their spot in the fifth.
"I feel great about this team and the momentum we've got going into the Playoffs," said MacKinnon. "We're going to be ready on Friday and give it all we've got. It's been a great season in front of the best fans in the League and we're going to make them proud!"
The game will be broadcast live on Twitch. For more information on the 2018 Playoffs visit nba.com/gleague.
