Texas Legends News Release
Frisco, TX (April 5, 2011) - The Texas Legends announced today that they have won the first ever "Texas Cup" in their inaugural season.
The chase for the Cup, presented by HP, was a competition between the three Texas state rivals in the NBA D-League, including the Legends, Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Austin Toros. The team with the best overall record between the three teams at the conclusion of the season was to be awarded the Cup.
While Austin finished 8-9 and Rio Grande Valley ended the series at 6-9, Texas came out on top, finishing the season with a 9-5 record in their games against the other two state teams. The Legends were 5-3 against the Toros and 4-2 against the Vipers.
The Cup will be awarded to Legends President of Basketball Operations Spud Webb in an on-court ceremony prior to tomorrow night's first ever playoff game.
The Legends will play their first playoff game in franchise history tomorrow night on their home floor as they host the Tulsa 66ers in Game One of the best-of-three series. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM at HP Court inside Dr Pepper Arena.
