
Antonio Daniels Earns First NBA Call-Up in Texas Legends Franchise History

Frisco, TX (April 5, 2011) - The Texas Legends announced today that starting point guard Antonio Daniels has become the 21st Gatorade Call-Up of the 2010-11 NBA D-League Season and first in Legends team history after being signed to a 10-day contract by the Philadelphia 76ers.
Daniels' call-up increases the number of current NBA players with NBA D-League experience, including players currently on assignment to their NBA D-League affiliates, to 98.
Daniels (6-4, 195) has appeared in 38 games (37 starts) with Texas this season, averaging 14.5 points, 8.6 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals. Daniels, who has logged 15 double-doubles this season, ranks second in the league in assists, third in minutes (38.1 mpg) and seventh in free throw percentage (197-227, .868).
A 12-year NBA veteran, Daniels was selected out of Bowling Green by the Vancouver Grizzlies with the fourth overall pick of the 1997 NBA Draft. Over 868 regular season games with six NBA teams, Daniels averaged 7.6 points, 3.4 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 22.6 minutes. Daniels also appeared in 80 playoff games, averaging 8.6 points, 2.9 assists and 2.1 rebounds, and won an NBA Championship with the San Antonio Spurs in 1998-99.
While with Seattle in 2003-04, Daniels led the NBA in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.89). He ranked second in that category (3.96) with Seattle in 2004-05, while also setting career highs in points (11.2 ppg) and rebounds (2.3 rpg).
Daniels is expected to join the Sixers today, and should be available when Philadelphia plays at Boston tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Legends will play their first playoff game in franchise history tomorrow night on their home floor as they host the Tulsa 66ers in Game One of the best-of-three series. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM at HP Court inside Dr Pepper Arena.
