Legends Celebrate A Season of Giving

APPLEBEE'S PARK (Lexington, KY) - The Lexington Legends on Wednesday, celebrated another season of charitable efforts, honoring those that have partnered with the professional club in giving back to Central Kentucky in 2007.

"Without this community the Lexington Legends would not be half as successful or as prosperous as we are," GM Andy Shea said. "That's why we make it such an area of importance to give back when we have the chance."

The Legends announced that in the 2007 season the team donated $1.2 million in cash and kind contributions for non-profit charities throughout Lexington, Central Kentucky, South-Central Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky.

"The success of the Legends is only as strong as the people in this community," club President and CEO Alan Stein said. "It seems only fitting that in the season of giving, we pay homage to those that have given back to the state of Kentucky."

Representatives from The Makenna Foundation, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, St. Joseph's Hospital Nurses Association, Boy Scouts of America, the V Foundation, Community Organizations of Central Kentucky, the Mike Coolbaugh Memorial Fund, Big Brothers & Big Sisters and the United Way, all came together in the spirit of the holiday season.

St. Joseph's Hospital, ADI, Quantrell Auto Group, Copy Express and Windstream were also in attendance to be honored for their participation.

"We are unbelievably fortunate to have the opportunity to give back through our various charitable giving programs," Shea added. "That being said, it can always be more, and this is something we will continue to strive for each and every year."
