Legends Boost Front Court with Mavericks Help

Frisco, TX JAN. 06, 2011 - The Texas Legends bolstered their front court today, with the help of the Dallas Mavericks, as Yi Jianlian and Sean Williams have been assigned to the Legends. These mark the 19th and 20th times an NBA players has been assigned from an NBA team to their D-League affiliate.

Yi Jianlian, a 7'0" forward/center out of China, spent last season with the Washington Wizards averaging 8.5 points and 5.3 rebounds. The sixth overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, Yi will rehabilitate a knee injury suffered this summer while playing for Guangdong where he averaged 16.7 points and 10.3 rebounds.

Yi rejoins coach Del Harris, who led the Chinese National Team to an 8th place finish in the 2004 Olympic Games.

A former Legends star, Sean Williams, will rejoin Texas after playing in three games with the Dallas Mavericks. Williams' best outing of the season came against the Denver Nuggets on December 26 where he had 12 points, three rebounds, and a blocked shot in 11:06 minutes.

Williams, a 6'10" forward/center, was a defensive force last season blocking 3.1 shots, grabbing 10.1 rebounds, and contributing 15.4 points per game during his time with the Legends. Also known as a high school basketball star in the DFW Metroplex, Williams earned multiple honors at Mansfield High. In 2007, Williams was the 17th overall pick by the New Jersey Nets.

Legends fans will get their first chance to see Yi live in action on Sunday when the Legends face the Maine Redclaws on the HP Court at Dr Pepper Arena at 3:00PM.
