
Energy's Strong Second Half Too Much for Skyforce

Sioux Falls, S.D. (Jan. 6, 2012) - The Iowa Energy defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce 102-80 Friday night at the Sioux Falls Arena. Sioux Falls jumped out to the early lead but the momentum quickly shifted in favor of Iowa in a game that saw a 38-point swing.
Sioux Falls (5-11) came out firing in the first quarter, knocking down 9-of-11 shots to begin the game and take a 23-7 lead. Iowa (11-4), led by Marqus Blakely, came storming back with a run of their own to cut the deficit to 32-27 after the first quarter. Blakely did most of the scoring for Iowa early on, scoring 16 of his 27 points in the first quarter.
After trailing for most of the first half, Iowa pulled ahead of Sioux Falls late in the half and took a 55-54 lead at halftime. Iowa continued to ride their momentum with a 7-0 run to start the second, taking a 62-54 lead. Iowa continued to hit clutch shots throughout the second half, killing any momentum Sioux Falls hoped to build.
Michael Tveidt's late 3-pointer was the exclamation point on a dominant second half by Iowa. The final score (102-80) was Iowa's largest lead of the entire game.
Blakely finished with a game-high 27 points behind a perfect 10-of-10 field goals. Efevberha had a solid game off the bench with 16 points and six rebounds.
Anthony Mason, Jr. just missed a double-double for Sioux Falls with 19 points and nine rebounds. Dominique Coleman added 12 points, five rebounds and six assists.
The same two teams face off at the Arena tomorrow night at 7 p.m. CT.
