
Erie Acquires Veteran NBA Point Guard

Erie, Pennsylvania, Friday, January 6 - The Erie BayHawks today acquired veteran NBA point guard Mike James from the league's available player pool.
James (6-2, 188) attended Duquesne University before starting his NBA career with the Miami Heat in 2001-02 when he was signed as an undrafted free agent. He's played nine NBA seasons spending time with nine different teams including Boston, Detroit, Milwaukee, Houston, Toronto, Minnesota, New Orleans, Washington and the Heat.
James holds NBA career averages of 10.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 25 minutes of play. His best season was in 2005-06 with the Toronto Raptors when he appeared in 79 games and averaged 20.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 37 minutes per game. He spent parts of last season playing in China and Turkey.
To make room on the roster for James Erie has waived guard Mike Gerrity.
James will be in the lineup on Saturday night as Erie continues their five game road trip against the Springfield Armor before heading to the D-League Showcase in Reno, Nevada to face the Idaho Stampede on Jan. 9 and the Austin Toros on Jan. 10.
