St. Catharines, ON - The Columbus Blue Jackets announced this week that they have signed IceDogs forward Stefan Legein to a standard three-year entry level contract. Legein was drafted by the Blue Jackets in the second round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not released.

In 17 games played this year, Legein has collected 16 goals and 10 assists for 26 points. Included in those 16 goals have been 8 powerplay markers, 3 shorthanded and 2 game-winners. The Oakville, Ontario native played for Team Canada during the recent Canada-Russia Super Series and was recently named to Team OHL for both games of the upcoming ADT Canada-Russia Challenge.

"Every Canadian kid grows up dreaming of one day playing in the NHL and this is obviously an exciting opportunity and a tremendous honour" said Legein. "I am looking forward to returning to the Blue Jackets camp in the off season to battle for a spot with next year's team, but my focus for the current season is still with the IceDogs and achieving our goal of bringing the Memorial Cup back to St. Catharines and the Niagara region."
