Kansas City Monarchs News Release
KANSAS CITY, Kan.- The Kansas City T-Bones announced today that the club has signed left-handed pitcher Francisco Gracesqui (Gru-zek-e) for the 2018 season.
Francisco Gracesqui last pitched in 2015 with the New Jersey Jackals of the CAN-AM League for current T-Bones Manager Joe Calfapietra. With the Jackals, the New York City native appeared in 24 games, working 38.1 innings of relief with a 2.58 ERA with 46 strike outs. The lefty was part of a league-leading pitching staff that earned the lowest team ERA in the CAN-AM League and a part of a playoff club as well that season.
Gracesqui began his professional career with the Toronto Blue Jays organization in 2012. After signing as a free agent, he would pitch in 22 games in the Gulf Coast Rookie League, posting a .288 ERA in 34.1 innings with 46 strike outs. In 2013 Gracesqui took the next step up the ladder to the rookie Appalachian League, tossing 22.1 innings with a 4-0 record and a 2.82 ERA. He would split time in 2014 with short season A Vancouver in the Northwest League and low A Lansing in the Midwest League. At Lansing he crafted a 2.11 ERA in 21.1 relief innings with 28 punch outs and a 1-2 record, and while at Vancouver, he did not allow an earned run in 14.1 innings, and he picked up a pair of wins to go 2-0. He would appear in two games for Lansing in 2015 and would not allow an earned run in two innings before he was released by Toronto.
The T-Bones roster stands at 28. Per American Association rules, Kansas City can carry 28 players into spring training, which began last Saturday at T-Bones Stadium. The first exhibition game against the Lees Summit Monarchs is set for Tuesday May 8th at 7:05 pm.
