Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League, today announced that forward Alex Leavitt has been named Oakley/CHL Player of the Week for the period ending March 9.

In four games this past week, Leavitt recorded multiple points in each game totaling 12 points (4g/8a) and a plus-8 rating. The Edmonton, Alberta, native's strong play has moved the Sundogs back into first place in the Southwest Division, three points ahead of second place clubs the New Mexico Scorpions and Odessa Jackalopes.

In the Sundogs 8-3 victory over the Amarillo Gorillas on Saturday night, Leavitt became the first CHL player to reach the 100-point mark this season with a four point performance (2g/2a). This year's CHL All-Star Game MVP has recorded at least a point in 45 of 51 games this season and is currently on a ten-game point streak, having tallied 25 points (7g/18a).

Leavitt wins the weekly award for the first time this season despite being the CHL's leading scorer with 103 points (33-70=103).
