Tapp named Oakley Goaltender of the Week

March 10, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

Corpus Christi Rayz' goalie Jason Tapp has been named the Central Hockey League's Oakley Goaltender of the Week, the CHL announced on Monday. Tapp played in both of the Rayz' games this weekend compiling a perfect 2-0 record against two of the CHL's best teams, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and the Odessa Jackalopes. In Tapp's two games, the British Columbia native combined for 69 saves on 73 shots.

This is the second time this season that Tapp has been awarded goaltender of the week. He received the same honor on December 17th after wins against the Arizona Sundogs and the Austin Ice Bats.

Tapp has had a record-setting season for the Rayz. As of Monday, the 29 year-old leads the CHL in games played (53), minutes played (3088:59) and saves (1702). He is the only goaltender this to season to clock over 2600 minutes and make over 1,500 saves.

Jason Tapp and the Rayz will take the ice again on Wednesday, March 12th at 7:05 pm for Beach Night as they face off against the Austin Ice Bats. Corpus Christi is currently 3 points behind Austin for final playoff spot in the Southern Conference. Tickets for the final two home games are on sale now.
