
Leafs Assign D'Amigo to Rangers

Kitchener Rangers Head Coach and General Manager Steve Spott announced that the Toronto Maple Leafs have assigned Jerry D'Amigo to the Kitchener Rangers.
Originally chosen in the 12th round of the 2007 OHL Priority Selection by the Rangers, D'Amigo signed a three-year entry level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs in August of 2010. He was selected by Toronto in the sixth round, 158th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
D'Amigo has appeared in 41 games with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL during the 2010-11 season, recording 14 points (5 goals, 9 assists) and 23 penalty minutes.
Spott had this to say, "We are grateful for the opportunity to work with Jerry. We would like to thank the Toronto Maple Leafs for their confidence in our program and we look forward to helping Jerry attain his career goal of playing in the National Hockey League. This is positive news for our organization and city. I know our fans will look forward to welcoming Jerry to our community."
The native of Binghamton, New York, has represented the United States three times at IIHF events. Most recently at the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship in Buffalo where he was a member of the USA Bronze medal team. He was also a member of the Gold medal winning Team USA at both the 2010 U20 and 2009 U18.
D'Amigo is expected to be in the line-up on Friday, February 4, 2011 for the Rangers versus the Plymouth Whalers at 7:30pm.
