Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends (1-1) finished strong in a thrilling 114-110 victory over the Oklahoma City Blue (1-1) to split the opening weekend series.
The Legends took their largest lead of the night (+15) late in the first, but Noah Starkey knocked down back-to-back two-point attempts at the line for a 27-16 finish. Jahmi'us Ramsey went off for 16 points in the second to erase a 14-point Legends lead and the two stayed close, with Texas edging into the break 54-53.
Keyontae Johnson opened the third with an outsider to put the Blue back on top, but the quarter belonged to Mavericks assignee Olivier-Maxence Prosper who knocked down 5-of-8 for 15 points. AJ Lawson was a perfect 3-3 from three and the Legends took a nine-point advantage into the final twelve. Lawson finished a fast break to make it a 12-point game with just under nine minutes to play but the Blue responded with 12 straight to tie it up and ultimately took the lead. With 1:20 on the clock, Ramsey put the visitors up by four, but Dexter Dennis responded from outside. Down by two, Taze Moore and Theo Pinson each made both from the line before Lawson caught a bad pass and slammed it home to end the game.
Lawson finished with a team-high 26 points, 7 rebounds while Prosper added 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists in his Frisco debut. Pinson came off the bench for 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Dexter Dennis and Justin Jackson added 11 points apiece and combined for 15 rebounds to round out the double figures.
Jahmi'us Ramsey came off the bench for a game-high 28 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists for the Blue. Hunter Maldonado added 19 points, 6 rebounds, and Johnson grabbed the game's only double-double of 14 points, 10 rebounds.
The Legends have a three-game road stretch in Osceola and Birmingham before returning home to host Mexico City in a back-to-back Friday and Saturday Nov. 24-25. For tickets or information call 214-469-0822 or visit www.TexLegends.com.
