St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN (April 14, 2014) - This may be the Last Train to Midway, but the St. Paul Saints have not lost their edge. There will be plenty of hilarious promotions (perms on the berm), annual staples (St. Patrick's Day in July) and surprises (final game promotion?). Like a long running TV show that has the inevitable "flashback" episode towards the end of its run, the Saints will roll out the "Best of the Best" promotional series during the 2014 season.

During the first 21 seasons of Saints baseball, dating back to Opening Day in 1993, the irreverent and tongue-in-cheek style has helped land the club local and national attention. With the Last Train to Midway barreling down the tracks the Saints wanted to give their fans a bit of a nostalgic feeling culminating in the final regular season game at the ballpark on Thursday, August 28. The organization chose 10 popular promotions from the past including the memorable and one of its kind Mime-O-Vision (1993) on Friday, May 16. If great music and symbols are your thing then the return of the Purple Game (2008) is one you won't want to miss on Wednesday, June 18. The greatest two-out rally returns as the Saints celebrate the Miracle at Midway (2004) on Saturday, July 12. The late, great Charles Schulz created the Peanuts Gang that both kids and adults have loved for decades, with this in mind the Saints are bringing back the Charlie Brown bobblehead (2001) to the first 1,000 fans.

While fans will have plenty of time to replay their favorite moments from Midway Stadium's history, the Saints won't turn the 2014 season into a Dick Vermeil press conference. The non-stop laughs begin before the regular season is even under way with the Three-Way at Midway XXXhibition Game on Friday, May 9. St. Paul was recently named North America's Most Romantic City and the Saints are out to show how much love is in the air at the ballpark with Tinder Loving Care Night on Thursday, May 22. Two great comedic entities, the Saints and the popular radio show Wits, will converge for one entertaining night. On Friday, May 23 John Moe will bring his unique style of improv, sketch comedy, conversation and music in what is sure to leave Saints fans doubled over in laughter. On Saturday, July 19 it's time to Send in the Clones as fans vote on who, or what, is worthy of 3-D reproduction. You can win season tickets for life and all you have to do is get a perm. Don't worry if you don't look like one of the members of the Brady Bunch, the consolation prize is a ticket on the berm for the 2015 opener with our Perms on the Berm Night on Monday, July 21.

Who doesn't love getting something for free at the ballpark? The Saints are offering nine different giveaway dates in 2014. Kids will enjoy the Saints replica jerseys on Sunday, May 18 while everyone will want to get their hands on the Bill Murray T-Shirt giveaway presented by Walser Automotive on Saturday June 7. Get to know the Saints players with the team card set giveaway on Sunday, July 13. Local musicians will write and record their version of "Last Train to Midway" and the first 1,000 fans will receive their very own Vinyl/LP on Saturday, August 16. Remember the brutal cold and snow during the winter? We won't let you forget as the first 1,000 fans receive a Polar Vortex Snowglobe on Sunday, August 17.

Saints fans never know who will show up at the ballpark. While there is certain to be some surprise guests make their way back to Midway Stadium, one appearance is certain. On July 18 Hall of Famer Lou Brock will be in attendance courtesy of Novo Nordisk. One of the great base stealers of all-time is a type 2 diabetic. He will bring awareness and explain how to live a normal life with diabetes. Saints players who have made their mark on franchise history will make appearances throughout the season.

The final Midway Stadium regular season homestand is jam packed with fun. The increasingly popular annual Zombie Baseball Crawl presented by Savers is on Tuesday, August 26. The second to last home game takes place on Wednesday, August 27 with Mudonna's Moving Van plus the first 1,500 fans will receive Andy Nelson's 1993 Mural Lithograph. It's the same mural that is painted on the inside of the ballpark when fans walk through the gate. The final regular season home game takes place on Thursday, August 28 as we go out with a bang! A Post-Game Fireworks SuperShow and Monster Food Truck Rally presented by the Saint Paul Port Authority along with many surprises.

Along with these unique promotions the Saints are bringing back Friday Night Fireworks presented by Xcel Energy. These nine incredible shows will be coupled with three additional Super Shows on Sunday, May 25, Thursday, July 3 and Thursday, August 28. An additional fireworks show presented by Mobil Super takes place on Thursday, July 31.
