
Late Rally Sees Revolution Claim Pitcher's Duel

(Central Islip, N.Y.) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 4-1 on Monday afternoon in the opener of a four-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.
Emilio Bonifacio put the Ducks in front with a first inning solo home run to right-center field. Both starters locked up in a pitcher's duel from there. John Brownell tossed seven shutout innings for Long Island, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out five batters. Mitch Atkins lasted seven innings for York, yielding a run on six hits and a walk with six strikeouts.
It stayed 1-0 until the eighth when the Revolution plated four runs to take the lead. Jose Cuevas' two-run home run to left and Welington Dotel's two-run double to right-center did the damage.
Atkins (4-3) earned the win for York, while Dennis O'Grady (2-2) took the loss for the Ducks, conceding three runs on three hits in relief. Grant Sides collected his fifth save with a scoreless ninth.
Jordany Valdespin led the Flock with three hits, while Travis Snider added two.
The Ducks and Revolution continue their four-game set on Tuesday night. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders).
