U.S. National Team News Release

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The U.S. National Under-17 Team received goals from four different players, but a four-goal third period carried the Marquette Rangers to a 5-4 victory Saturday night at Lakeview Arena.

"We played well for one period, and that wasn't enough to get a victory," said Ron Rolston, head coach of the U.S. National Under-17 Team. "We are still learning how to win on a nightly basis, and that was evident tonight."

Marquette scored the lone goal of the opening period when James Gallagher put his team on the board at the 7:03 mark.

Team USA responded with two goals in the first five minutes of the second stanza to secure a 2-1 lead. Drew Shore (Denver, Colo.) recorded his seventh goal of the year just 1:09 into the frame off assists from Jeremy Morin (Auburn, N.Y.) and Tyler Amburgey (Rowlett, Texas). Kevin Lynch (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) pitched in an unassisted goal, his sixth of the year, at the 4:10 mark of the period.

Sam Calabrese (Park Ridge, Ill.) gave Team USA a two-goal cushion midway through the middle frame with his first goal of the 2007-08 campaign. Ryan Bourque (Boxford, Mass.) added his second shorthanded marker of the weekend, and 11th overall goal of the season, to spot Team USA a 4-1 advantage.

Marquette rallied to tie the game up at 4-4 with three goals in the first half of the third period. Aaron Pietila scored on the power play at 5:40, before Luke Hannon and Chad Pietila struck at 8:01 and 9:59, respectively.

Dustin Partacz provided the game-winner for the home team with 58 seconds left in regulation.

Brandon Maxwell (Winter Park, Fla.) finished with 30 saves for Team USA, and saw his record fall to 5-6-0. Matt Brooker stopped 31 shots to improve to 11-2-0 for the Rangers.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team (11-14-1) is back in action next Friday (Dec. 6) when it takes on the Alpena IceDiggers at Northern Lights Arena. The puck is set to drop at 7 p.m. ET.
