Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT - Las Paletas de Beloit came up just short of another victory against the Peoria Chiefs.
The Sky Carp, who adopted their Paletas identity for the final time this season, dropped a 4-3 decision Friday night at ABC Supply Stadium as 1,561 fans looked on.
The Chiefs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, then added another run in the third. The Sky Carp got on the board in the bottom of the frame on a two-out RBI single by Wilfredo Lara to cut the deficit in half.
The Carp tied the game in the sixth inning on a solo homer by Brock Vradenburg. It was Vradenburg's third home run in the last two games, and fifth of the season as a Sky Carp.
Yiddi Cappe put the Sky Carp in front with a clutch two-out single in the bottom of the seventh, but the Chiefs rallied back with a pair of runs in the eighth to take the lead for good.
NOTABLE:
The Sky Carp have a big weekend coming, with Marvel's Defenders of the Diamond Night on Saturday and Sam Loizzo Day in the home finale on Sunday.
The pre-game was quite festive, with some local Latin dancers of all ages performing before the game.
