Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

EDINBURG, Texas--- The Edinburg Roadrunners' late game rally fell short as they fell 6-4 to the San Angelo Colt on Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium to earn the split of the four-game series.

The Colts (3-5) got on the scoreboard in the top of the first with some help from the Roadrunner defense. Two errors kept the inning alive and loaded the bases for San Angelo. Landon Camp drove in a run after being hit by pitch. Jon Edwards followed with a grand slam giving the Colts the 5-0 lead.

Those would be all the runs allowed by Aaron Guerra (1-1) the rest of his outing. He pitched seven innings striking out five and did not allow an earned run.

The Roadrunners (3-5) got their runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Jason Thomas started things with a single and then moved to second after a walk to Michael Lewis. Adam Gordon loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch and then Brandon Wilkerson followed with a two-run double to left center field. With runners at second and third, R.J. Harris hit a two-run single to center field cutting the Colts' lead 5-4.

San Angelo added an insurance run in the top of the ninth on the RBI single from Mark Ramos that pushe the score to 6-4.

Edinburg loaded the bases with a couple of errors from the Colts in the bottom of the ninth but Fransisco Cruceta got back-to-back strike outs and got Harris to ground out to the mound to end the game giving the Colts the 6-4 victory and the series split.

Chandler Barnard picked up the win after pitching seven innings and allowing two runs on five hits.

The Roadrunners travel to Harlingen for four-game series with the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings starting Thursday night at Harlingen Field. Jorge Quintero is expected to start for Edinburg with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
