San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas---After losing game one and two of the series, the Colts won game three in big fashion and looked to get out of Edinburg with a split in the four game series. They did and for the third night in a row they received an impressive start from their starting pitcher, in a 6-4 victory and leave Edinburg with a split after dropping the first two.

The Colts got off to a quick starting in the first after Roadrunners shortstop Jason Thomas committed two errors, the second of which would have been the final out; the Colts would take advantage and eventually load the bases. Landon Camp was hit with a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 1-0 and the following batter Jon Edwards (3) hit the Colts first grand slam of the season and the Colts lead 5-0.

It would remain that way until the bottom of the eighth as Chandler Barnard was brilliant throwing seven shutout innings until he was lifted in the eighth. The Colts ran into trouble though, as Edinburg scored four times to pull to within one, making it 5-4. The Colts added an insurance run in the ninth to make it 6-4 and looked like they were headed for a sure victory, as they brought in former major leaguer Francisco Cruceta to close it out. The Colts however committed two errors in the bottom of the ninth and the Edinburg loaded the bases with nobody out. Cruceta showed his poise though, striking out two and getting the final batter to bounce back to him, as the Colts hold on for a 6-4 win and get a split in the four game set.

On Thursday the Colts return home for a rematch against the McAllen Thunder, after losing three of four to start the season. In game one of a four game set San Angelo will send out righty Gorman Romero (0-0, 2.25) against fellow right-hander Justin Jordan (1-1, 4.91) for McAllen. Thursday is Thirsty Thursday with $1 beer sponsored by Miller Lite and Pink Bat Auction where you will be able to bid on players bats used during that game with the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society sponsored by Cisco Equipment. It all begins with the pre-game show at 6:45 and the first pitch is at 7:05 on 101.9 "The Fire".
