Late Rally Drops Roadrunners

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners fell to the San Angelo Colts 6-3 after having a one run lead going into the bottom of the seventh innings Saturday night at Foster Field.

Leading 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Roadrunners bullpen allowed three runs on four hits to give San Angelo the lead.

The Colts (11-11) got the scoring started in the bottom of the second with an RBI double by Cory Patton that allowed Landon Camp to score. One out later, Jamar Walton hit an RBI single that drove in Patton making it 2-0.

The Roadrunners (12-11) answered back in the top of the third. With two runners on, Stantrel Smith hit an RBI single that allowed Osiel Flores to score from second. Wilmer Pino then hit an RBI single that plated Pascual Del Real from third. Felix Molina capped the scoring in the inning with a sacrifice fly allowing Smith to score giving Edinburg the 3-2 lead.

Matison Smith got the no decision after allowing just two runs on seven hits in six innings of work.

The score remained the same until the bottom of the seventh when San Angelo put up three runs on four hits. Daryl Jones and Camp recorded back-to-back RBI singles in the inning. Patton then followed with an RBI double allowing Jones to score giving the Colts the 5-2 advantage.

Ruben De La Rosa (0-1) received the loss after allowing three runs while recording just one out in the seventh.

After the Colts added another run in the bottom of the eighth, Erik Draxton closed the ball game with a scoreless ninth for his fifth save of the season which gave San Angelo the 6-3 victory.

Brian Henschel (2-2) got the win after he pitched eight innings and allowed three runs on six hits.

The Roadrunners and Colts will wrap up their four-game series Sunday night at Foster Field with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
