
Colts Earn 6-3 Win over Edinburg

San Angelo, Texas --- The Colts bounced back from their seven-run loss on Friday to defeat the Edinburg Roadrunners, 6-3 Saturday night at Foster Field.
Brian Henschel (2-2) was terrific on the mound for San Angelo. He gave up three runs on six hits in eight innings of work to earn the win. He also struck out four batters and walked two.
At the plate, the Colts took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Third baseman Landon Camp hit a leadoff double and designated hitter Cory Patton followed with an RBI double. Patton later scored on right fielder Jamar Walton's RBI single.
Edinburg came back in the third, claiming a 3-2 edge. Catcher Osiel Flores, shortstop Pascual Del Real and right fielder Stantrel Smith all scored in the inning.
The Colts regained the lead, and held it, thanks to a three run seventh. Centerfielder Ronnie Gaines hit a one-out single, and scored the tying run on an RBI base hit by first baseman Daryl Jones. Gaines went 4-for-5 with an RBI, and became the first Colt to have a four-hit game this season.
Designated hitter Cory Patton capped off the big inning with a two-run single. He went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Edinburg reliever Ruben De La Rosa (0-1) surrendered all three runs in the seventh, and as a result, he took the loss.
Colts' closer Erik Draxton pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his fifth save of the year. The win gives the Colts a 11-11 record, while it drops Edinburg to 12-11.
The Colts and Roadrunners play the finale of this four-game series Sunday night at Foster Field. It will be another Grand Slam Sunday, sponsored by Fiddlestrings and Family Night presented by the Children's Advocacy Center. One lucky fan will win a 47" HDTV courtesy of Fiddlestrings, and all families get in for free thanks to the Children's Advocacy Center. Gates open at 5:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 6:05 p.m.
