Kamloops, BC- For the second night in a row, the Prince George Cougars came up a goal short, as they fell 2-1 to the Kelowna Rockets on Sunday night at the Sandman Centre.

The Rockets (9-4-1-0) scored twice in the first period and that's all the offence they needed, as goaltender Cole Schwebius stopped 30 of 31 shots. Alex Swetlikoff and David Kope scored just under four-minutes apart midway through the opening frame to put the visitors up by a pair.

Majid Kaddoura scored the Cougars (9-9-2-1) lone goal, on the power-play, six and half minutes into the third period to cut the deficit in half. Kaddoura scored his second of the seasonon a one-timer from the face-off circle on the right-wing to put the Cougars on the comeback trail.

Just like Saturday night against the Victoria Royals, the Cougars made a third period push when trailing 2-1 but couldn't come up with a tying goal. The Cougars outshot the Rockets 12-6 in the final frame.

There was plenty of special teams play Sunday, as 11 power-plays were handed out and the Cougars went 1-6 on the man-advantage. The Rockets went 1-5.

Taylor Gauthier was saddled with the loss despite a tidy 23-save effort. The loss put to an end to his personal five-game win streak.

Prince George finished the four-game season series with a 1-3-0-0 record against Kelowna. Their lone win came in Kelowna earlier this week, a 2-1 victory on May 4th.
