
Late Knights Rally Dooms Gems in 6-5 Loss

Corvallis, OR: A one out double by leadoff Corvallis hitter Blake Drake (Concordia University) in the 9th inning drove in two and gave the Corvallis Knights a dramatic comeback win over the Gems on Saturday night at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field in Corvallis, OR. Gems took an early 4-0 lead in the 6th inning in part from a two run home run by Dempsey Grover (University of California Santa Barbara) and an RBI single by Paul Panaccione (Grand Canyon University), before the Knight comeback in the 9th inning.
Jacob Schroeder (Washington State University) moved to 1-0 with a win in relief for Corvallis. Jackson Lockwood (University of Portland) took the loss in relief for the Gems, falling to 0-1 on the year. Gems and Knights play tomorrow afternoon in the finale of the three game series.
The next Gems home game will be Monday, June 24th as the Gems host the Cowlitz Black Bears; with the first pitch at 6:35 pm. Monday's promotion is Kids Get in Free (sponsored by Kla-Mo-Ya Casino). Each Monday night game during the 2013 Gems season will be Kids Night.
