Bend Elks News Release

Bend, OR - After scoring 37 runs over the first 4 games of the current 6 game roadtrip, the Elks struggles to find any offense against Ty Provenchar and the Victoria Harbourcats Saturday, losing in the game 2 of the 3 game series by a 5-1 final.

The Elks (12-5) trailed 3-0 after the first inning as Cory Mack got the start for the Elks as Brandon Smith drew a walk to lead off the ball game, Alex Real singled, and with 2 outs, Robby Nesovic delivered a three run home run to give the Harbourcats the early lead.

Victoria (9-4) tallied two more in the 5th as Brandon Smith scored on an RBI groundout from Real and Alex Degoti scored on an RBI single from Chris Lewis, both unearned runs against Elks reliever Garrett Anderson.

Bend's only run came in the top of the 7th inning as Keach Ballard lead off the inning with a single then advanced to third on a single by Tyler Servais. Derek Dixon then grounded into a 5-4-3 double play, but it got Ballard across to help the Elks avoid being shutout for the first time in 2013.

Otherwise for the Elks, it was a night to forget as Ty Provenchar had the Elks figured out all night, facing just two hitters over the minimum in earning the complete game win. Provenchar pitched all nine innings, giving up one run on 5 hits, walking none and struck out three to earn his third victory of the season while throwing 91 pitches.

The Elks and Harbourcats will square off in the rubber match of the three game series Sunday, first pitch set for 1:05 p.m. in Victoria, British Columbia.
