
Late Havoc Rally Nets Big Win

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc were two seconds away from a disappointing three-loss weekend before rallying to win on Saturday night and finishing the weekend on a positive note.
Thursday, January 5 -Huntsville 2, Augusta 3
AUGUSTA, GA - The Huntsville Havoc trailed 3-0 midway through the second before rallying but still fell 3-2 to the Augusta RiverHawks on Thursday night.
Jim Gehring and Jesse Echtenach both scored first period goals for Augusta and Egor Mironov added a second period goal to give the RiverHawks the 3-0 lead.
Mike MacDonald put the Havoc on the board with 1:16 left in the second period and Ryan Kretzer added a goal with :56 left in the game to cut the lead to 3-2.
The Havoc outshot the RiverHawks 26-19 put couldn't find the back of the net. Kevin Beech made 23 saves in the loss while Jon Olthuis made 17 in the win.
Friday, January 6 - Pensacola 5, Huntsville 1
HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Pensacola Ice Flyers scored three power play goal and one short-handed goal as the beat the Huntsville Havoc 5-1 Friday night.
Adam Kuhn got the Ice Flyers on the board early with a goal just 1:21 into the game. Andrew Harrison scored the first power play goal with :40 left in the first and Pensacola took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
Ryan Salvis scored the second power play goal with 15:08 left in the second to extend the lead to 3-0. Glenn Detulleo cut it to 3-1 with 10:32 left before the third power play goal by Matthew Robertson with 5:31 to go in the period gave Pensacola a 4-1 lead after two periods.
Dan Buccella added a short-handed goal with 15:26 left in the third to finish the scoring.
Kevin Beech made 21 saves in the loss while Steve Christie made 28 in the win.
Saturday, January 7 - Mississippi RiverKings 3, Huntsville 4 - OT
HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc entered the third period down 3-0 to the Mississippi RiverKings before scoring three goals to tie and adding the game-winner just :18 into overtime to come away with the win.
Ryan Kretzer scored on the power play with just :02 left in regulation to tie the game and then added the game-winning goal in overtime.
Jeff Topilko opened the scoring just :12 into the game. Brandon Bullett scored with 11:09 left in the first and Mississippi held a 2-0 lead after one period.
Ken Selby scored with 9:15 left in the in the second to give the RiverKings the 3-0 lead.
Joey Pell got the Havoc on the board early in the third period to cut the lead to 3-1. Dennis Sicard made in 3-2 with 14:48 left setting up the tying and winning goals by Kretzer.
Kevin Beech started for the Havoc and allowed two goals and made four saves in 10:32 of action. Matt Hache replaced him and allowed one goal and made 33 saves to get the win. David Wilson made 27 in the loss.
