Windsor Spitfires News Release
(Kitchener, ON) - Brent Pedersen's goal with just 1:43 to play spoiled a brilliant, 38-save effort by Brendan Johnston, as the Rangers squeaked out a 2-1 win over the Spitfires Friday night at The Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.
Johnston made 15 saves in a scoreless first period, 12 in the second and 11 in the third. But it was the home side's 40th and last shot that made all the difference, as Pedersen somehow snuck one under the crossbar, from a bad angle, for his 8th of the season at 18:17 of the third period.
Trevor Murphy (6) had the only goal for Windsor (7-13-1-0), a power play marker at 18:00 of the second period that came in the waning moments of a 5-on-3 advantage.
Mike Davies (6) had the other goal for Kitchener (12-3-2-4), which ran its streak of games unbeaten in regulation to a whopping 16.
The Spitfires wrap up a stretch of three games in three days as the London Knights visit the WFCU Centre on Saturday night.
