Las Vegas Aces News Release

NEW YORK - The WNBA announced today that Las Vegas Aces forward Dearica Hamby was named as a reserve to the 2022 WNBA-All Star Team. It is the second All-Star nod for Hamby, who ranks fourth in the league in rebounding 24th in scoring, 11th in steals and eighth in field goal percentage.

The reserves were selected by the league's head coaches, who voted for three guards, five frontcourt players and four players at either position regardless of conference. The coaches were not able to vote for their own players.

Hamby's addition to the All-Star roster gives Las Vegas four players in this year's mid-season classic which is being played at Chicago's WinTrust Arena on Sunday, July 10. The game is being televised nationally on ABC, and tips at 10 am PT.

Joining Hamby on the reserves are The Chicago Sky's Kahleah Copper, Emma Meesseman, and Courtney Vandersloot; the Washington Mystics' Ariel Atkins; the Phoenix Mercury's Skylar Diggins-Smith; the Atlanta Dream's Rhyne Howard; the Seattle Storm's Jewell Loyd; the Dallas Wings' Arike Ogunbowale; the New York Liberty's Natasha Howard; and Connecticut Sun's Brionna Jones and Alyssa Thomas.

Las Vegas' A'ja Wilson and Seattle's Breanna Stewart, by virtue of being the two All-Star starters who finished with the most fan votes, will serve as official team co-captains. They will joined as co-captains by the Minnesota Lynx's Sylvia Fowles and the Storm's Sue Bird, who both have announced their retirement upon conclusion of the 2022 season. Fowles will be paired with Stewart; Bird will be paired with Wilson.

The captains for Team Wilson and Team Stewart will select their respective rosters during ESPN's broadcast of the WNBA All-Star Team Selection Special on Saturday, July 2 at 12 pm PT, choosing first from the remaining pool of starters, and then from the pool of 12 reserves. By virtue of finishing with the most fan votes, Wilson will make the first pick.

Las Vegas head coach Becky Hammon and Chicago head coach James Wade have earned spots as the head coaches for AT&T WNBA All-Star 2022. With Las Vegas clinching the best record in the WNBA through June 24 (13-3, .813), Hammon and the Aces' staff will coach Team Wilson. Wade, whose Sky posted the second-best record through June 24 (12-5, .706), and the Chicago staff will guide Team Stewart.
