Laredo Takes Over Top Spot in CHL Coaches' Poll

March 7, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Laredo Bucks News Release

The defending champion Laredo Bucks have become the sixth different Central Hockey League club to occupy the top ranking in the CHL's Coaches Poll, ousting the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs after a two week stint atop the poll. Previously the Colorado Eagles (9 times), Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (twice), Memphis RiverKings (twice), Youngstown SteelHounds and Oklahoma City Blazers have held the #1 position. For this first time this season, five different teams (Laredo, Colorado, Bossier-Shreveport, Memphis and Youngstown) were voted #1.

The Bucks tied a franchise record with their 10th consecutive win Tuesday in Odessa, setting up a showdown of conference leaders with second ranked Colorado this Friday at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The clubs have combined to win the last three consecutive Ray Miron President's Cup titles. The Eagles improved from #3 to #2 this week, with the Arizona Sundogs also increasing their ranking from #9 to #8. The Mudbugs slip two spots to #3, while the New Mexico Scorpions exchange rankings with the Sundogs, falling from #8 to #9.

Throughout the season the CHL will release the results of the Coaches Poll. Each first place selection earns 10 points, second place earns 9 points, etc. Coaches cannot vote for their own team, creating a potential perfect score of 160 points should one club receive all 16 possible first place votes. Previous week results listed below current week.
