March 7, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Austin Ice Bats News Release
The Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League have announced a special benefit to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation at this weekend's games. The Ice Bats will make a matching donation for all advance ticket sales for the games Friday and Saturday, with proceeds to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and South Texas. Fans may call (512) 927-PUCK for details.
At this Saturday's game, the Make-A-Wish Foundation will also offer "Make-A-Wish Dollars" for purchase by fans as an additional donation.
The local Make-A-Wish chapter expects to grant 200 wishes this year to children with life-threatening medical conditions, with each wish costing an average of $5000 to grant.
"No wish is the same, and each requires a different level of commitment," said Tammy Shaklee, CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and South Texas. "We rely on corporate humanity partners to make dreams happen for these deserving children. For years, the Ice Bats have had been ongoing active partners, creating magical opportunities for children, often while they wait to have their ultimate wishes come true."
The Ice Bats also are inviting fans to "Wellness Wednesday," from 4-6pm this afternoon at Rock Chiropractic in Round Rock. Fans can get autographs from Ice Bats players and tour the new state-of-the-art chiropractic facility at 111 E. Old Settlers Boulevard.
The Ice Bats are 19-23-13 heading into weekend games against Arizona and Colorado. Friday is "Dollar Hot Dog Night," with hot dogs just $1 throughout the game. Game time is 7:30pm both Friday and Saturday night at the all-new Chaparral Ice Arena, located on I-35 between Howard Lane and Wells Branch Parkway.
In addition to providing tickets through the Ice Bats office at 927-PUCK, the Bats are for the first time utilizing Front Gate Tickets as the team's ticket outlet. Fans may conveniently purchase tickets at any Front Gate Tickets location, including Stubbs BBQ, Waterloo Records and Encore Video & CD.
