Ogden Raptors News Release
OGDEN, UT - In the final two games of their eight-game road trip, the Ogden Raptors came up empty multiple times with chances to score runs.
That tendency carried over to the start of a five-game homestand Monday, but by the end of the night the hosts were cruising to victory.
Ogden pulled ahead of the visiting Rocky Mountain Vibes with Sauryn Lao grand slam in the seventh and added five runs in the eighth to pull away for an 11-5 victory, breaking their fourth two-game losing streak of the season.
The early innings were all Rocky Mountain, as the Vibes used a two-out bloop single to go on the board in the second, back-to-back solo homers in the third and a two-run shot in the fourth for a 5-0 lead.
The Raptors began their comeback in the bottom of the fifth, as singles from Jorbit Vivas and Marco Hernandez combined with a Ryan Ward walk to load the bases with no one out. Jon Littell drew a free pass to drive in Vivas, and Andrew Shaps reached on a fielder's choice to score Hernandez and draw Ogden within three.
Littell ripped a single to left to open the seventh. With one out, Jimmy Titus doubled to left-center. Zac Ching drew a two-out walk to load the bags, and Lao jumped on a 2-0 fastball from a new pitcher to launch his grand slam onto the Tar Pit, putting the Raptors up, 6-5.
In the eighth, Hernandez doubled for his fourth hit of the game to lead off. Ward tripled him across, Littell walked and Shaps was hit by a pitch to again load them up. Titus capitalized with a two-run double, Aldrich De Jongh singled in a run and Ching reached on a fielder's choice for another RBI. When the dust settled, Ogden had sent 11 men to the plate and scored five runs to put the game away.
Tuesday's action begins at 5, with the completion of the suspended game from Colorado Springs the previous Tuesday followed by a seven-inning game.
