Minot, ND - The Minot Minotauros are proud to announce that forward Taylor Lantz has committed to play NCAA DI hockey for the University of Alaska Anchorage. Lantz becomes the 41st Tauro to commit to an NCAA DI program. The second year forward is currently tied for the team lead with 10 goals, and is third on the team in scoring with 21 total points.

Lantz said he chose UAA "the coaches are great people that showed confidence in my abilities;" he added the fact that Anchorage is "a beautiful city" did not hurt either. While attending the University of Alaska Anchorage Lantz intends to study aviation.

Tauros Head Coach and General Manager Marty Murray explained that while Lantz's career took some time to get off the ground, he eventually took flight, "The transition from high school to junior wasn't easy at times. But he stuck with it, bought into being a strong 200? player, and he's been very consistent all season long. Even though Taylor doesn't wear a letter, he's definitely a leader on our hockey club and he's well-liked and respected in our locker room."

Murray believes Lantz has what it takes to succeed at the college level; "Taylor's hockey sense and creativity stood out to us three years ago when we recruited him. He's been one of the most talented players to come through our program and does things you can't necessarily teach."

With an NCAA DI commitment locked up Lantz is excited to focus on repeating last year's team success saying now the focus is "just getting back to the Robertson cup and winning it this year."

Lantz was quick to thank the people whom have helped him reach his goal, citing the "opportunities the coaches and organization give us" as well as his "family, friends, billet family, and all of [his] teammates."

Lantz and the Tauros will be in action this Thursday and Friday night at the Maysa Arena against the Aberdeen Wings. This weekend is Ag Appreciation Weekend sponsored by Dakota Agronomy, Gooseneck Implement, United Agronomy, and Western Agency. Tickets are available through the "Tickets" tab atop this page.
